Angel Food Ministry at New Life Christian Center
I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
Genesis 12:2
Blessed to be a Blessing
Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens), and has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 35 states. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order.
New Life Christian Center has partnered with Angel Food Ministries to help neighbors in our own community who need a hand up in tough economic times. Our mission is to bless people by meeting their real need for nourishing food. The Angel Food Program allows people to purchase their own food at economical prices, and also provides a means to be a blessing by purchasing food to donate to needy people. All donated Angel Food will be distributed through HPSO (Helping People Start Over).
Blessings by the Box
Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month’s menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. Comparison shopping has been done across the country in various communities using a wide range of retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.
Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one could purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.
Also offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork. Many participants in this bonus program appreciate the expanded choices. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of units or bonus foods an individual can receive, and there are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.
How the Program Works
Menus vary from month to month, but the same value is offered each month. Orders with payment are collected by volunteers at New Life Christian Center or HPSO each month. These orders are then turned in to the Angel Food main office in Monroe, Georgia, usually on the third Monday of each month. The Saturday following the order submittal is Distribution Day, when volunteers pick up the food and bring it to the Distribution site at HPSO to give out to those who placed orders.
Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
Isaiah 58:7 NLT
Opportunities to Give
Giving to Angel Food is easy. You can place an order to give a specific amount of food to a specific person, or you can simply give a designated offering during any church service by making your check out to New Life Christian Center and noting “Angel Food” in the memo line at the bottom. Or you can use a regular offering envelope and designate your gift for Angel Food. It is remarkably easy to be a real blessing to someone in need.
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:35-40
Opportunities for Service
There are many opportunities to serve in a tangible way with the Angel Food Ministry at NLCC. Volunteers are needed to take orders from the congregation, help pick up food on Distribution Day, set up the food for distribution, greet people as they come to pick up their orders, and carry boxes of food out to vehicles.
People who serve in this ministry are working together for common goals, they meet new friends or perhaps life-changing conversations take place. Socio-economic distinctions are forgotten and the church begins to regain its God-ordained presence as the centerpiece of the community. Volunteers can expect a two- to four-hour time of reward, working with one another and helping others. Distribution Day becomes for many the one day in the month when a sense of fulfillment through service and a life of purpose becomes a reality.

We are currently taking Angel Food orders for the August menu. The deadline for placing orders for August is Sunday, August 16th. You may place your order at the Angel Food desk in the lobby after any church service, or you may place an order during the week at the church office front desk. You also can place your order online at http://www.angelfoodministries.com. Click “order online”, then put in zip code 30909. Select New Life Christian Center, and follow instructions.
If you wish to donate a box of food to a needy family, simply place the order as above, and be sure to let us know it is a donation. All donated food, unless specified to go to a specific person, will be distributed to someone in need through our HPSO food ministry.
Thanks so much for your interest, and let me know if you have any questions.

I was seeking to offer volunteer work for a season of my life. I came across an area where I have been blessed with experience and enjoyment in…..restaurant business. If I could be of any service to you, please email me at Hebert_patti@yahoo.com.
It would be a blessing to help in this ministry.
Thank you again,
